I picked up a Beretta silver snipe 12 gauge it has has fixed chokes would this gun be any good for trap or skeet would it be worth while getting it thread for chokes

Depending on the chokes, it might be suitable for either trap or skeet, but not both, as the most suitable chokes for each of the two games are very different.

I believe they are a field gun and may be a little on the light side, weight wise. It could easily be adapted to a clay target game. It has the same internals as the target shotguns. If you live near Woodstock, ON, I have a bore gauge and can tell you accurately what each barrel is choked.

Not in my humble opinion ... weight dampens recoil. The Beretta is a far superior gun to the Stoger. Choke is important. It also depends on how much clay target shooting you plan to do. If you plan to do a bunch of clay shooting (warning ... it is addictive), just about anything will do to start. But, you will buy more target shotguns.
