Is this how my Guide Gun's buttstock is supposed to look??

Just picked up my new guide gun. Is there supposed to be a dot above where the sling stud is??

Mark, that roundel is the trademark Marlin Bullseye found on all Marlin rifles.

Some mistake it as a place where one can put a sling swivel stud, please don't.

Mark: I have three, a .375 .44 mag and .35 Rem. Bubba got to the .35 and the .44 and drilled out the bullseye to set a sling swivel stud. I had to repair them as best I could with accra glass. I hope you enjoy that guide gun.

Dont worry mark, I had to inquire about it too, when I got my Guide Gun.

Marlin has a little blurb about their "bullseyes" on their website.

Slap some tru-oil or other coating on that stock. they're quite soft, I found out that hard way

.................fill me in Amphib. what do you mean?? I have tung oil i could hand rub on.

I found it scratches/dent's very easy. I gave mine 3 or 4 coats of tru-oil and it left a hard protective coating on the wood.

A) This is the Marlin "Bullseye". This trademark has been used since 1922 on all Marlin walnut buttstocks. Please note that this is not a suitable place to install a swivel for you firearm. Swivels should be mounted approximately 2 inches from the toe of the butt.
