Is this many loose primer pockets normal?

I while ago I was priming some .303 brit bras and noticed something odd. I was doing some Federal brass when I noticed 4/5 peices had really loose pockets, as in push the primer in by pressing down on the table loose. I had some Winchester ones that were more loose then others, but not this bad. After 5 in a row I decided to stop and i placed the whole lot aside. These were all once fired from commercial ammo. Does anyone have any similar experiences with federal brass? So far I am sticking to Winchester brass.
 
Different lots of brass, different lots of primers, different levels of cleaniness of the pocket, subjectivity of the amount of force needed, etc. A perfect storm of tolerances is all it is. It's obviously not a "pressure sign".

I wouldn't worry as long as the primers won't fall out even under rough handling.
 
I agree with Andy. And the best way to know if a certain brass is thinner than another is to weight it.
 
Thin has little to do with it. Soft brass can be thick or thin. I have also experienced larger primer pockets with Federal brass, in .308 Winchester. If they are that loose, then I would discard.
 
I've run into some problems with certain combinations of brass/primers. For example, I find that Federal .308 win brass gets large primer pockets faster than other brands and if I combine this brass with Winchster LRP's they fit really loosely as the Winchester primers are not chrome coated like most others, so they are a tiny bit smaller. Easy fix is for me to use CCI #200 LRP's (chromed) in Federal brass and done is done.
 
Federal brass is known for being soft. Repeated loading and firing tends to cause the primer pockets to distort.
