is this normal (Mosin)

Hi guys
The ammo is indeed the same, see attached pic. after watching Iraqvets video, I thought that would be it, but as shown in the pic the bolt face is not peened or deformed. A cartridge fits nicely in the recess. Maye it will loosen up, it doesn't look like its had a lot of use. the bolt was clean upon disassembly.

Mines the same way but i noticed that there was a gap(2-3mm) that opened up between the bolt head and bolt body when i closed the bolt. My 3 other mosins don't have that gap and they all work fine.

The plot thickens! I have had my last three molots with the same deformation. I initially, I thought it might be a soviet attempt to tighten up the headspace & left it. However, my 31 tula was so bad the bolt jammed up in the bolt way, so I filed it smooth & took down the lump on the backside of the lug. With everything filed down to its original shape, it won't even come close to closing on a no-go gauge. I don't know what they were trying to do but that deformation buggers things up good.

Did filing the lug help? One of mine looks like the OPs, the other is fine.

I have this problem too with my Mosin.

I saw another fix, same idea as the video by Iraqveteran8888, but instead, sand the inside of the lip down a little bit, and round it out.

I have yet to try it out yet.

Are the Molots the ones with the laser etch on the barrel just in front of the rear sight? They come 2 in a cheap cardboard box with no packing? I've picked up a few recently but haven't seen this damage. Good to know for the future.

Yes.

x2 on what desporterizer noticed with the lug. Found the same issue with my M38.

Closing the bolt on an empty chamber, while not silky smooth is OK, about what I would expect. With a round being chambered, its much harder, but still do-able, definitely don't need a mallet. So any more input? De-sporterizer let me know how your filing went. I am not in a hurry to #### it up with file, I am no gunsmith.

I bought a 440 round can of corrosive primer 7.62 x 54R and some rounds made it a bit sticky to close the bolt , the rest were fine. I felt it was the ammo. Thanks for the heads up!
