Is this really stupid?

UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight) polyethylene comes in black.

Lee Valley doesn't seem to sell the black piece alone but black ones do show up in the assortment pack.

my 2 cents

I did the same thing with another rifle.

Go to a local sign shop.
Ask for scraps of black 1/8" or 1/4" Sintra.
Free.
Trace your recoil pad and cut with an Olfa knife. Lightly sand the edges.

Thanks- I've been looking for something like this, although I've already got enough bloody spacers in there as it is.

Even better still would be if a manufacturer sold a bolt-on adjustable LOP kit, something like what you saw on Mightyhunter's Savage.

Yep, not everyone is vertically challenged...

Get me an exact template of how you want your spacers. Ive got some 1/4" aluminum at work that i can cnc plasma. you pay shipping. ill cover the rest. i know what its like to be tall too. haha.

Thats very nice of you but I need like an inch and I am worried about the amount of wight that would add..I think I am going the limbsaver route to save myself (and others lol) headache. I ordered two more Sako spacers from Brownells, and got a limbsaver precision fit pad today so that should give me exactly an inch of lop while looking totally stock and not adding 1lb of weight.

Superior Shooting Systems sells a great 6-way adjustable butt plate system. I cannot recommend them enough. You will likely need to do some work mating it up to the stock, but function follows form. Ergonomics is essential for best shooting results, and making your equipment fit you is very important.

I'm seeing a Tubb 4-way butt plate system that looks nice, but not a 6-way, yet. Interesting site, thanks.
Are there any Canadian companies that sell something similar?
added 01/10/11: I see Robertson sells one, but it's only 2".

A knife making supply is also a good place to look. I buy 6"x10" plates of G10 to make knife handles. Easily available, comes in several different thicknesses and comes in many colors (olive drab, black, red...pink..).

Shoe repairs use high density foam for midsole that is available in various thickness and colours. It's easily shaped and cut and is virtually incompressible. The sheets I have are made by Vibram - like the outer soles.
