Bob must have got an electropencil for Christmas. Other than being disfigured by Bob, this rifle is almost mint. Name/DL# is everywhere. What a shame! Certainly trying to ignore it is one option. I'd love to hear some repair options. Thank you.

The barrel and buttstock could be dressed and refinished. The mess in the checkering would be harder to deal with.

As someone who has always wanted that model I can only say, what a #%@^&%ing shame! I've repaired many guns with varying levels of damage and I can't see any way of correcting that sort of damage without costing 4-5X the value of the rifle. It would be easier to change your name and call it a day but the D.L. really buggers that plan.

Sell it as a special collectors edition... what a mess.

I think the checkering would be the easiest to repair... cut the lines slightly deeper through the lettering and then use some stock finish... a blemish that will not be near as noticeable. If it bothers you too much smack it with a rock...

Is that cut checkering or pressed? If it is pressed, repair would be tricky. If cut, pretty straight forward.

Maybe all of Bob’s buddies had a 99c as well and it was the only way he could find his own rifle???... why right in the checkering Bob?
Anyhow if I apply furniture stripper to the checkering can I remove the stain with a toothbrush or something similar? I like Guntechs idea to cut it deeper then restain.
