Good day, bought myself an SD9VE around two weeks ago on Friday I received my registration and off to the range I was with it the yesterday.

Anyways, when I got the firearm I cleaned it right away, when I went to check it out before shooting it, I noticed that the spring had a weird brownish residue at the front and soem of the gun oil at the front was brown.

Is this rust? (On the second photo there is cleaning solvent that's why there are suds.)

Doesn't look like rust to me dude. It's probably your solvent cleaning off whatever lube was on the gun when it shipped.

It's Interesting that the SD9's use a flat wire recoil spring.

I don't think that is rust either. Just lubricant or possibly a bit of residue left over from when they tempered the spring.
