Is this shotgun too big for me?

Ideally if the gun fits properly the tip of your nose should be about 2” from your thumb where it wraps around the pistol grip when the gun is thrown to the shoulder. You should not have to move your head in any direction to get lined up. I would bet serious 3 gun and tactical shooters make sure their shotguns fit them properly not fit themselves to the gun. You cannot achieve quick target acquisition if you have to move yourself and or your gun around to acquire your target and desired sight picture.

Looks like the gun is too low in the first photo, so I don't think you'd be sighting down the barrel that easily. (or at all) As someone else said, you don't hold shotguns square (=directly forward) to your body, or at least...everyone I know doesn't. If you're right handed, your left side should be slightly forward. Goes back to that "feet shoulder width apart", and angle slightly towards your target. I've heard some say 45 degrees...but I'd guess it's more like 30 degrees. As for the LOP, it might be something to consider if you find your reach to the pump feels a bit strained. I know Hogue have, or at least offer a shorter LOP stock in some of their sets.

5'10" isn't short, I think you should just take the gun shooting and see how it feels. I have a hunch it'll feel very normal/good before long AS IS.

I bet a lot of the tactical/3gun ect types are aiming their shotgun and not pointing it... But they're usually shooting at targets that are much more predictable than a bird (hell a lot of their targets don't move at all)... It's much easier to aim a poor fitting gun than it is to point it...

I was expecting this pic

For the 88 or 500 you can find the pistol grip with an AR butt stock pretty easily . So in case you don't like the default stock you can just go for that. My 12 yrs old son can shoot the 88 with a AR stock at 1st notch or fully collasped. It can fit pretty small body with that setup.

I'm 5"10 and found the same issue with my 88. That stock can be cut shorter and the recoil pad reused or look for a different stock. Even removing an inch or so makes a big difference. I like a 13 to 13 1/2 inch LOP.

Not exactly the topic but regarding holds.
I don't know how many times in war type movies that I have seen shooters with half the but plate above the shoulder. Is this the movie industry or is that how they have to hold their rifles of the AR style to use the optical sights. I do not have any friends in the armed forces to ask.
