Is this the dumbest and ugliest 17hmr rifle out there?

I had a Maverick shotgun and it was just fine. Can't say it performed any worse or better than my 870. But I was not an extreme or heavy user of it, so maybe a duck hunter might have some quarrel with it.

I have a Mossberg .22 that was my grandfathers that has the same style tip down stock on it. Looks like they are bringing back some of their old ideas. As for the muzzle brake......thats just stupid. Goes perfectly with their Chainsaw pump and their tactical lever.

My Maverick 88 has outlasted 2 870's and is keeping pace with a 3'rd ... and it gets seriously abused all year long. I will buy another if/when this one wears out.

As for the Mossie in the OP ...

:flame suit on:

I like it ... Not sure I would pay more than $150 for it, but I think it's kinda different. Useless muzzle break? Hell yes :) Obese thumbhole? Yuppers!!!

I am NOT a "mall ninja" type, and try to avoid "all black" rifles ... but that one has something about it that appeals to my eye ...

Few flavours of discussion...
i) Ageed. I don't see the appeal in the OP's picture...Have to use the "ugly" word.
- It is a neat market ploy. I have a 352k semi .22. It has a fold down forestock, and was "super-###y" in it's day. A fine semi .22 aside from the flip down stock. The stock did appeal to many back then (I'm 40's and the rifle is older than me). I pick up on the "retro" side of this new offering.
...not going near the muzzle break.

ii) Mossy shotguns...I have only ever bought myself one, new, over the counter gun in 25 years. It's my Mossy 500. My son will own it one day, as he'll likely not find a better one. In a word "awesome". Countless ducks, grouse, clays (I can lob and hit 3 clays with it using #4 lead). The Maverick, at the time I bought mine, was about half the price, but had only one action bar...they now have 2. I know of many that have been pumping out shot as long as mine.

I may be "lord of the Fudds", but can't deny that there will be some folks who appreciate this .17...

Knowing mossberg it would probably be a tactical toyota hood ornament menar to tame the fierce recoil of the .17 hmr and make it into a devastating long range killing machine for mile long shots

the brake looks like something off a 50 cal .

Ya the barret style brake is the new tactifool fad.
Like you even experience recoil from a 17grn bullet.
I'd rather have a bipod than a stock for arm that tips down.
And the thumb hole stock looks like it was designed for ample abidexterous relief on Andre the giants hands.

Manufacturers build tacticool for the tactifools!!! It's nothing more than supply and demand or in this case...demand and supply. All they need to do is throw a few rails on that thing...garantied to make anyone a MOA shooter! LOL!
