Hey guys,

Was out and about and went inside calgary shooting center. Pretty good selection of stuff they had, I was more interested in the keltec su-16, it was good but I find to much plastic on it and I don't like the stock and forend. Now I know keltec offers another forend and an ar style stock. I asked if they can get me the ar stock and adaptor but the guy said if you put that on the gun it becones restricted! He said if it says ar on it or from an ar it automatically becomes restricted. Now is this true or not? I like the look of the su16 and I want a .223 in that style, really don't wanna pay 1000+ for one right now

Thanks

Did you catch the guys name that said that?

If you say AR-15 while there is firearms in the same room, they all become instantly restricted.

Joe told me.

That's not true. There are plenty of non restricted rifles and shotguns out there with AR style stocks on them. My CZ 858 even had a AR style stock. The stock is just aesthetics. As long as the barrel stays over 18.5 inches, you can slap whatever you want on it and it will stay non restricted, as the SU16 itself is not related to the AR in any way. The whole AR/AR variant issue deals with the action/firearm itself, not aesthetics such as stocks, grips, etc.

Ahhh I thought so, didn't make too mich snse when he said that, good thing I asked on here hahaha. But on a similar topic, can I take that ar stock and replace it with a different ar stock, or istit just that stock that'll fit on that adaptor in the picture?

Yep, you can change stocks. The buffer tube is standard AR type, I forget if it's mil-spec or commercial.

Just get a slide fire stock for it.

I wish there were more threads on that topic......

Lol you can't do that it would be illegal..

Now a slide fire stock could be made by just taping the stock on an ar 15 so it slides up and down then just pull forward on the forend and once you get it right it will bump fire. That's all a slide fire stock is they just add a place to rest your finger to make it easier.

Just look at how the stock works and you go hmm that's super simple to copy...

Now if you do it you can be looking at 3-10 years in jail (mandatory sentences) They might drop the charges if you agree to a lifetime ban on firearms for example who knows it depends on the judge and people going after you if you get caught so it's not worth doing it. You can bump fire a semi auto with nothing at all just by letting the firearm rock back and forth ie you pull forward rifle recoils back and it repeats.
