Is this Webley Mk II actually unshaved?

I've been looking for things to spend my tax return on and I found this Webley Mk II for sale on an american website. I've got a friend in the states who can receive it as an antique (so it doesn't run afoul of the american straw purchase rules) and then I can pick it up next time I visit / he can ship it to Borderview for me.

The seller says its unshaved, can you guys confirm?



 
That's what she said, Well, that she forgot her razor~ haha, Yes, I know Lame! ;) Dang, that's a very nice Antique Webley. Isn't when they are shaved', is to accept Moon Clips, to shoot .45ACP? It looks un-malested to me.
Is Borderview a Company that helps with Import of these?
 
If it were shaved all the markings on the face of the cylinder would be gone.

I'm pretty sure they weren't getting reproofed afterwards even in the WWI era. Certainly aren't on the ones getting cut in our current misguided attemptto make them more marketable.

It has been tampered with, it has been refinished and hot dipped reblued.

But yeah, it has not had it's cylinder shaved.
 
Looks original and unshaved because the broad arrow mark is still visible on the back of the cylinder.

If you can get it for a decent price I would jump on it immediately, the Mk II's are more durable and make better shooter guns than the Mk I's (recoil shield is replaceable, firing pin is beefed up and less likely to break when dry firing). And unshaved Mk II's are particularly rare, since fewer Mk II's were made compared to Mk I's in general

Your friend an just ship it to you. You don't need any importer. Just ask him to attach the FRT to the package and you need an invoice and value for customs. It obviously has been refinished but still unshaved.

Make sure all the markings are intact - top strap and the other side. which is not shown here.

Do you mean using USPS, UPS, or Fedex? What do you declare when filing out the customs form?

I thought shipping handguns was banned by USPS, even if they're antique.

Just mark it as "antique" - nothing else and add the FRT print out to the package. Antique firearms are not prohibited to be shipped by USPS. You can google it. CBSA will open the package and inspect it, therefore you have to add the FRT printout to make it easier for them, CP will deliver and collect taxes.
 
Just for the Value, I wouldn't "Mail it". Insurance wouldn't compensate for damage or Loss of something this rare.

Your pictures wont load for me but from my recollection, the rule of thumb on this is if the serial number is touching the edge of the cylinder it means it’s been shaved. If there’s a space between the edge of the cylinder and the serial number it’s unshaved.
