Hey,

Been reloading pistol for a while now, and wanna move to rifle.
Got my dies and all... will be reloading 5.56, 7.62 x54r, 308win... and if results are remarkable enough 7.62 x39.

Searching load data shows Varget to offer recipes for all three with any bullet grain offering.

Am I on the right track.... Should I instead go with different powders for each / are the results much improved?

Any now for some humor.... Anyone know where I can get some?

Thanks

I've never loaded 7.62x54R, but Varget works just fine in the other two. No reason that it shouldn't be good in the 54R. Very convenient to use only one powder.

Varget is a great general purpose powder for a large range of cases, from small to even 375 H&H.

It may not always be the ultimate choice for any of them but for the 7.62x54R, 223rem and 308win, it will do good work.

Now, the big thing will be to find some.

Sounds like I'm on-track...
Really want to get it started... but have to wait probably a year...
Reminds me of waiting for the club ATT.. Which also sucked...

This hobby... A lot of spending and waiting...

Budget Shooter has 4064 and you should check with Higginson Powder and Hummason Powder - I think that one of these two had Varget (at least they did last week).

imr 4320 and 4064 are old powders that have been around forever and they will load all those cartridges and many more and are usually easier to find

You beat me to it. In my experience, Varget and IMR4064 are so close I've wondered if the cans weren't filled from the same spout.

Good to know about those other powders... at least that gives me some options...
Thanks for the supplier tips...

Varget did every grain size I'll check the others load data to see... M14 is the platform so I'll research results.

Appreciate the help all!!
