Is Wholesale Sports scaling back??

double check

I will only talk to this one guy at my local WSS store . Most of the other salesmen have no idea what you are talking about. I had meet this fellow at the range 2 weeks ago. He had purchased a Marlin .308 MX and some ammo at this store and this one salesman sold him the correct rifle but he give the .308 Win ammo.
He drove an hour to the range all excited to shoot and when he try to load the the rifle with this ammo, it wouldn't load. That could have been a disaster if it fit the chamber. Like let say a .300 win mag ammo in the .300wby mag. rifle.

I've never heard of a .308 MX.....but I think if I bought one I'd know that it was not a .308 win....if you don't know what you want Wholesale can be hit or miss for good information.

mmm I just got my 2008 catalog they have alot more rifles... do they still sell hornady... I was looking threw the book and they have not put them in there yet there website still has some products listed?

You would think they would put all the products there stores had to offer in the catalog?

I ordered a gun from Wholesale the other day and the lady on the phone told me that it might take 3-4wks to get it because fast shipping is not one of their strong points:eek:That came from one of their own:confused:

They just got bought out by UFA, so hopefully they get their sh*t together.

I was in the Edmonton WSS sat. and the selection sucked. They only had a couple of lee presses, and that was it. One set of 308 fl dies RCBS, I did notice some 22-250 but did not notice if they were fl or neck.
It always astonishes me as to how much stuff the catalouge has and how little is actually in the store.
Frustrates me when I have to drive two hours to get there, like you guys mentioned, wait another 45 min. to find out they have nothing of what I want. I could see if I wanted odd ball stuff, but you would think they would have .223 fmj 55 grn?? and brass for it. Oh but because of the war, they cant get any. Then I drive to P&d and pick it up. I am to the point now I will only go to WSS as a last option.

Probably because the catalogue was ment to be for mail orders from their Warehouse in Calgary??? I bet you never though of that one.

Yes I thought of that, but normally they have the products in stock in their stores if it is in the catalogue, if not normally they state mail order only. Just as much of an inconveince to drive to Calgary. Haven't been to the new store yet, is it any good?

There warehouse isn't much better... if you need .224 FMJ pm me I can supply you with what you need... like your self I got fed up with no one having anything I got my own company going and there is a supply issue but I have stock right now once it runs out who knows how long before I can get more. there are serriously long backorder times right now.

twig 40, how often do you go to the Edmonton WSS? Things seem a ton better for reloading/dies/powder/etc than they were before. I can usually go with 2 powders in mind (1 I really want, and 1 in case that one isn't there), and pick something up. That's a big improvement from what it used to be like. What irked me before was their shelfspace dedicated to 32 and 25 acp ammo, while lacking any 45 or 9mm at times. Holsters galore for prohib-sized handguns, but try to find something that fits a 1911?

Anyways, things have improved.

Perhaps they are revamping their website to reflect what they acutally carry!

I have given up on them for now. On my last 3 online orders, they called me the next day to tell me they did not have half the items I had ordered, and for most of these items they could not tell when/if they would be in stock.

Having an expansive website that lists products that you cannot supply is not a way to encourage customer loyalty.

Very Sign is off line on WSS website as it expired on OCT 10 2008. My Browser wont let me open it for safety reasons. Crappy as I was working on a shopping cart again.

Bass -Pro [Outdoor World]in Airdrie is supposed to be open in May/June.....................................Harold

I am just getting into the "gun" thing with my husband. We have both shopped at WSS and P &D... Service at P&D is soo much better.
Customer Service at WSS (Especially the front counter at the Customer Service, the chubby one with short hair was a real find on their part!!!) Sucked! One of the guys at the gun counter was really informative but the waiting in line on a Wed was the hard part. They seem they do not like their job? P&D on the other hand was outstanding!!!
We will continue to shop there!!!
Can't believe the difference in Customer Service, at P&D they will find what you want in a short period of time, not 2-3 weeks, or months, depending, on there head office's decsion....
My 2 cents from a newby!
