Is WMFR just a .22 magnum?

My BIL has a Ithaca Model 72 lever action .22 that he inherited and we want to try it out. The data stamp says .22 WMFR ONLY, just want to confirm that WMFR simply means .22 magnum and is not some oddball round.

Are you sure it's not "WMRF"? (Which stands for Winchester Magnum Rim Fire")

I guess the BIL has dyslexia, it is WMRF, so magnum it is. Thanks.

Two quickies:

In short, realize that the .22 WRF is somewhere in between the .22 LR and the .22 WMR in power, and that means firearms chambered for the .22 WRF should not be fed .22 WMR. Recall the mighty credo: "if it's unsafe/illegal, don't do it".
