Is your Kimber reliable?

I have a Custom Target from about 5 years ago. It has been very reliable for me. I've shot everything through it including my crappy handloads. I estimate my 1991 has had about 6000-7000 rounds through it and can't remember having any problems - with firing, feeding, accuracy, different ammo, all sorts of different magazines...no problems.

Could someone give me a quick run down of the prices on Kimber Custom IIs? I know I can check their website, but often the price variates for us across the border.

I think The Shooting Edge sells them for the prices on Kimber's site. My understanding is Kimber do not have a distributor in Canada (middle man) so there is no markup required. The price on Kimber's site for a Gold Match II is what I paid at TSE.

Check the TSE site.
I was interested in custom stainless II or the 10mm target model and they didn't have either. I called them next day after they got the new shipment...they said it will be a while till they get new stuff...

My kimber gold match II is about 1 year old now, and I love it. It's probably got 1000 rds through it with out any trouble. I don't have a lot of pistol experience, the kimber was my first centerfire handgun. I also own two kimber rifles with a 3rd one on order, and I'm half interested in a Custom Aegis II 9mm. I love my Kimber's and I won't hesitate to get another one.

I love mine. Although its not a custom shop, the fit and finish is top notch.
I already have the money for another one, but after checking them all out at the shot show I cant decide. I mean I really cant decide...

Hard to believe all the bad stuff on your Kimber. It is after all a custom shop gun. As part of their QC, a different person inspects the parts before another fitter puts them together.

Still, its good to hear they are making it right.

Someone asked about a distributor. Kimber is dealer direct now.

My Desert Warrior has feed problems with Winchester 185gr BEB, but 230gr WWB and Fed runs perfectly. I've also put a little Remington HP through it with no failures.

Now that the price of Kimbers has dropped significantly and Custom II retails for only $795, I must say that I'm tempted to buy one. However, I'm somewhat reluctant to do so in light of all the negative reports regarding Kimber's reliability (or rather the lack of it) that I've read on other forums. I want a gun that would function 100% right out of the box. No jamming, no extractor issues resulting in brass being thrown in my face, not picky about ammo and magazines, and no "break in period" necessary for the gun to start functioning properly. So here's a question for Kimber owners: would you say that your gun has been 100% reliable according to the above criteria? Please be honest – I'm not interested in "Kimber is great buy one" type of responses. I'd like a fair and objective evaluation of the pistol.

Tactical Custom II. 3000 rounds. Flawless.
