is your restricted licence's number the same as the non resticted one?

My restricted license is in the mail, I can expect to get it in 2 weeks. But I can not wait that long, I want to buy something from tradeex as I am afraid the deals I like might be gone in 2 weeks.

My question is, now that my restricted license is approved, can I use my non restricted license' number to buy restricted firearms?

IDK if the number emainsthe same while upgrading.

I would just email tradex and tell them and my bet is they hold it for you or let you buy it and hold it until you can provide the PAL number.

Its the same. If you get both R and NR at the same time it will be on the back of the same pal. If you get a NR first, then get a R added the number won't change with the addition of the R status. If you are lucky enough to get a 12.7 down the road it will just be stamped on an updated PAL card, but again the number will remain the same.

example.... pal # was 12345678.0001 now new rpal becomes 12345678.0002 and each time card is re-issued last number goes up by one, but main leading number does stay the same
make sense?
 
It happened to me and it was just as bag1 describes. If you give the dealer your license number they won't need the suffix .000x and when they call it in to the CFC it should show in their computer files as RestrictedPAL. If it isn't yet, just explain to the dealer it's in process and they should be happy to take payment or a deposit and hold it, as Shawn said.
 
Those last four after the decimal only reference the number of PALs cards you have been issued. It doesn't actually make up your PAL number so to speak. The only time it might is if card .0003 was stolen, and you have card .0004 and someone else was found with .0003 thus possessing stolen property.

I called reliable gun today,they took my payment and held two guns for me. I will call them again once I get the my newer license.

pretty exciting for my new toys. but have to spend a few minutes to convince my worrisome wife she has nothing to worry about. people tend to link handguns to crime,I think

Yes, the range experience tends to open their eyes and they suddenly can believe it: people own guns just because they are so much fun to shoot at just paper targets, so maybe you aren't a time bomb waiting to go off.

This is absolutely correct. The 4th digit after the decimal will change for each change/revision made requiring the issuance of a new card. I had a POL, upgraded to PAL, renewed and upgraded to Restricted. My 4th digit is now .0004.

Pay for the runs, they will hold them for you until you get your number. Should not be an issue.
