I have a 1964 Ishapore 2A (not A1) in fantastic condition.
All parts are matching, even the magazine.

I purchased it in the grease, cleaned it up (took care to preserve as much Suncorite as possible) fired 20 rounds of 7.62 through it and it has been in the locker ever since.
I do love collecting military surplus, especially special ones like "The last of the Enfields", but an opportunity has come up to buy a couple more collector/shooter pieces and this one gets too little use to keep.

As these don't come up for sale very often, especially in this condition, I'm looking for a rough idea what to post it for?

Any thoughts or comment would be greatly appreciated.

Timberlord, your 2A1 is gorgeous.

John172, as you mention, so few trade hands that it's difficult to appraise. if yours is especially nice, and all matching, as HeadDamage mentioned chances are it'll sell for an amount between $600 and $800 - closer to the later than the former.

IIRC, the Indian pattern bayonet with square pommel and shorter flat-sided blade would be correct? I may be totally off here.

Lou is right. Timberlord that is one of the best 2A1 rifles I have seen. Most of them were very well used and showed it. I bought one from P&D at a Kamloops gun show shortly after they came out. The best they had would have rated GOOD only. Even then, they were pricey.

The one I bought had no finish on it above the wood line but it had a decent looking bore, which ended up measuring oversize. Don't remember how much. It wouldn't group well with any factory loads, military or commercial. I finally loaded up some .311 fmj I had on hand in a big bag I picked up from International. They weighed in at around 155 grains if I recall. They shot well. That shouldn't have been a surprise because those Indian FN SLRs all had .310 bores in them as well. At least the pieces I checked out did. They cost a grand total of $145 delivered.

By the way, Timberlord, the nose cap on yours doesn't look like the square-type that Ishapores usually have?

(if you need one of the square ones I have some)

Thx Lou....but a square one would make my all-matching ( including mag) into a mismatch ;)

The cut down Indian Mk1 bayo . This one "was" a Vickers P07

The Indian Mk11. No bloodgroove
Note the smoothed edged P07 handle,,,some later bayos will have handles that are more squared

The 2A1s I had have a square or rectangular muzzle guard.
I have one 2A1 left but its in an Australian wood. I have a complete set of 2A1 wood in a box in my shop.
I recently sold a 2A1 to another member on the EE. I shot 12 rounds out of it and just about tore my cheek off.
Its the only rifle that I ever experienced this. You have to get so low on the stock to see the sights your cheek presses takes a beating.
I haven't shot my second one with the Australian wood so I can't say if it mades a difference.

I found the same as albayo, sore cheek just like shooting my Marlin 444. Mine are in the Indian wood and one semi naked which will wear sporterized No111 wood one day.
