Ishapore 2A1 rifles

I still have my first one bought it from a guy in Montreal. It was in the Gun Runner for months then I got my book on the Lee-Enfield by Ian Skennerton that identified it. I was the only person to call about it, I haven't put a round through it. A few things about them are the chrome lined bore, and it will work with FN stripper clips.

They have a chrome bore? First time I've heard that.

Only a few hundred were brought into Canada by International Firearms of Montreal about 20 years ago. Many were missing extractors and magazines.

About the 2A1 having chromed barrels.
I rechecked the info on the 2A1, India has a 7.62 version of the FN MAG it is the Model 2A1.
They have a chromium lined barrel.
I am still checking on the rifle.

ah man, i'd love one of these. I think I read in Skennerton's book that the original mag design held 12 rounds, is that right?

They are supposed to be 10 rounds, but you can cram a dozen into some of them.

I think the mag should not be topped off past the normal 10 rounds. You really don't want your mag spring to "set" on you because it is what they called "ribbon steel" and the heat-treatment on them was very tricky. Usually, if you try to re-extend the spring, it just snaps..... and then you are looking for a part which is nigh impossible to find.

I just really wish that somebody would bring in another couple of thousand or so..... and let me know when they do it. I would have one SO fast.........

It's a bit tricky..........IIRC they were originally issued with 12-round magaizines , but all the replacement mags you'll find on Numrich et al. are 10-shot capacity....
