The Ishapore Open is October 13 at the Bull Meadow Range, does anyone know when the event starts? I intend to be there early anyways, also what is the range fee for the shoot? From what I hear, any service rifle that was in use in any nation up to round bout the 1950's is allowed, range from what I understand is 200 and 100 meters with a rundown. Sounds like it's going to be fun!

Normally all matches start at 0900 and the cost is also normally $20 or less.

Although any service style rifle can be shot at this event, only people competing with "Ishapore" rifles may win the Ishapore prize.

I'll post the email once it is sent out by the NSRA.

CFSAC/NSCC Matches 1-4 are shot and are as follows:

Match 1 - 200m Deliberate (2 sighting shots and 7 for score)
Match 2 - 200m Snap (2 sighting shots and 10 for score); 10 X 3 sec exposures
Match 3 - 200m Rapid (2 sighting shots and 10 for score); 1 X 30 sec exposure
Match 4 - 200-100m Run Down (10 on score); 10 X 3 sec exposures

HPS is 185

Need 43 rounds plus enough for a re-shoot/tie-shoot if required.

The tough lesson learned in the Eastern Ontario milsurp matches has been to leave a pause for reloading after 5 shots, and we have found a 5-second exposure for snaps keeps more shooters in the game. A 30-second 10-shot rapid with a bolt action might be too much to ask for many shooters.

The idea of milsurp matches is not to embarrass or discourage ordinary shooters. The objective is to have a social outing, with old guns, and at the end of the day somebody wins the eternal praise and admiration of the others (or that was what they told me when I came in 3rd.)

Ok guys I got a small problem. I'd like to come out for the shoot. Like last year, I was thinking of bringing my M1 Garand, but the barrel is still shot out on it (Got the new barrel, just haven't got it to a gunsmith to be installed). I was thinking of using one of my newly bought rifles, but none of them have been tested at the range yet. For my L.E. I haven't got it headspaced yet, and I only have one stripper clip to use. I trust they all work just fine, but I haven't gotten them out to actually shoot yet. Can anybody help me out.

Here is the info I received today:

This is a reminder that the Ishapore Open Service Rifle match will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Bull Meadow "A" Range.

This is a "Heritage" Service Rifle match. Those people using NATO or Commonwealth service rifles, "as issued" FNs or .303s, M1 Garand, etc. will be elgible for the top prize. That means no target sights, no sniper rifles/scopes, no customized stocks, etc. A match committee will be established to determine elgibility.

You can shoot the match using a C-7 or AR-15, or other customized service rifle, but will not be elgible to win.

No prohibed rifles are to be brought to the match. Ensure your rifle is safe to shoot.

There will be a trophy for first place and there will be NSRA medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. There will also be a prize for the top "Ishapore" rifle score.

This is an "Open" match, so non-members can attend.

Got out to JD's last night and got the Savage looked at. The headspacing is just fine. I hope to get good marks on Sat with it and hopefully walk away with a trophy!

Man I went out for it and I'm ever so glad I did! I didn't do very well shooting my #5 Mk1 but I had a ball anyways. The only match I was kind of content with my score was the 200 M deliberate. Had to crank the elevation up to 300 yards to get them in there though. I'd like to thank the organizers for an excellent day and promise to get my dues and application in soon. :D
