Do your part! Shoot more ammo here so supply follows demand away from the bastards.

Also, I find it annoying that they're firing so much American stock which I assume is from equipment the Americans left for Iraqi forces which abandoned post.

Here's a report on the weapons the found isis to use as well. h ttp://www.conflictarm.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Dispatch_IS_Iraq_Syria_Weapons.pdf

That's really interesting. Toward the end of the ammo report, there are some 5.56 rounds with a really pronounced indent from the bolt face. Any idea what these were chambered/fired from?

Just to show you how much these guys will go for AR given the choice between AK and AR. Granted US's M16 are most likely under 10 years old whereas the AK can be trace back to 50s, 60s, 70s

Everything the iraqi army, police units and contractors have, the ISIS probably have them as well, as most of the iraqis ran without resistance. Half of the Iraq is controlled by the ISIS.

Tsk tsk was it Qatar or Oman that misplaced a bunch (like 2000 m16s or so about a year ago ... Maybe Kuwait? And it came out in congress that the us was spoiling 1000s in tons of "aid " to Fsa last year .....

Why are you guys linking to this anti-gun group? They would just as soon disarm you before ISIS.....

Would they though? Their goals seem pretty clear: tracking small arms in conflict zones. Specifically those that are embargoed.

I haven't seen a single word about western gun owners, or even anything regarding civilian ownership.

Seems like quality security and defence analysis rather than frantic disarmament.

If a group has any sort of vested interest in a war zone: It's worth knowing where sh*t comes from and where it goes.

Yeah really, and some of those reports are pretty interesting. I don't think an agency tracking arms trade in third world war zones gives any care about civilian ownership in Canada. That is just paranoia.

I read a few of their reports. They seem pretty unpolitical to me. More about raw data. And very interesting to me because I had been seeing pics of tons of ARs in the hands of the bad guys and was curious what types they were and how they got there (I see lots of obvious Iranian/Chinese M16s in news photos but for other ARs it's hard to tell without close up shots).

How does a civilian bushmaster ends up in Iraq? Private security forces used them?

Any number of ways. The global arms trade stretches far and wide and it would be crazy to know the journey some of these guns take to make it where they are. During the Iraq war there was even instances of insurgents being caught with old M16A1s... Stamped US Govt property with serial numbers that were traced back to weapons lost in the Vietnam war.

I've picked out the important bits.
Try critical thinking and reading between the lines.
It is all hidden in their cool boardroom descriptors on what they do...
Stuff like 'offering a range of tailored solutions to meet the needs of governments, international, NGO and research institutes'. If you don't think they are providing research for gun control lobby groups and the UN driven mandates to curtail sales of arms to civilians, you must have your head in the sand.
'Arms control policies' 'weapons trafficking' all includes keeping guns out of the hands of citizens.
'provides the evidence-based information required to develop effective arms control and counter-proliferation strategies'
That includes not only the surplus guns and ammo some sport shooters often enjoy as entry into the hobby but new production of other weapons destined for civilian/citizen sale.
