I am wondering has anyone attempted using 323 bullets in 308 case in a shot out isreali 308 k98? My old old good faithful is limping pretty badly rifling is there and looks good but 308 bullets are very very loose in it now i tested the 323 bullet in the barrel and it fits like a 308 does in a newer k98k 308

I'd slug the bore with pure lead first and measure it, you might want to try a .311 bullet first as .323 is pretty overbore and is going to cause some serious over pressure. A new rifle is cheaper then missing body parts..........

we have a remote firing bench for tests let me go check my 311 and 312

yea 311 works great hmm time to find 311 bullets..... we will slug the bore to make sure tho

+1 on all of that.

HI; I use 303 lead bullets at .311 diameter in a 30/30

that's okay for lead as it is softer and more forgiving then copper jacketed bullets, however 308/311 sort of breaks that rule with some 7.62x39 commercially made modern rifles as some use a 308 diameter barrel and others use a 311 diameter barrel while all factory ammo or surplus for the matter is loaded with a 311 diameter bullet.........

No danger of using 311 bullets. Just start low and work up.

BUT!! the real danger would be the chamber neck. Take an unsized fired case and see if it will hold a 311 bullet. If the bullet drops into the case, you are ok. If it has some resistance and stays in the neck, the chamber neck is too tight and you would be playing with a pipe bomb.

cant find a barrel that ITAR won't block from being imported....

Check with Marstar. They specialize in that kind of thing. If it's not on their web site that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have it. Give them a call.

ok I will check with them when they are open sad really my US supplier has the barrels and since the start of this year they can't send me barrels, wood stocks or even parts for most of my rifles anymore. I still gonna look into a 310-311 might never get a new barrel so u gotta have backup or put it on the wall :/

I personally put over 6k rnds through her thats not the original owner and collector either have no idea how much they did.

hmm never heard of them to tell u the truth are they military step or sporter style? I am not looking for sporter barrels where I cant use all the original Stock/handguard and parts

If it was me I would make a posting in "Gunsmithing" asking for a Mauser 8mm barrel. many perfectly good barrels have been removed for various projects and now reside in gunsmiths take-off barrel stash.
