Israeli Bul Pistols

I tried one out on the weekend when one of the guys at the range got one in 9mm, it was the basic model. After one mag of 147s through it, I was shooting groups tighter than I could with my Beretta 92. I found the frame size to be perfect for me, and it had a great trigger on it; one lady that is used to shooting a Sig put a couple shots off center becuase she was not ready for the sweet trigger it had. I was really impressed with the sight picture also; it was about what I wish my Beretta had.

The only issue she and I had with it was the mating of the beavertail to the frame; it would give you a minor bight if you were not paying attention. This is no big deal, since I would just take it to Gunco here in Ottawa if it was mine.

The owner did not like it as much as he hoped, but everyone else seemed quite impressed with it for the money; if I was not saving for my wedding I would be picking one up. He tried to trade me his Bul for my Beretta; if I did not have a sentimental atachment to my Beretta he may have had a deal.

Heh Corey,
I shot Marcos a couple of weeks ago, nice trigger but it shot a group at least 4" x 8" and Marco said that was about what he got (25m), not very good. I may look further at one in 45 and hope this was an odd ball.

This one was full size (5"). I will have to try it again the next time I am out at the range; he wants to get it broken in, and I have no problem helping him out :).

Roughly the same size as a Para, maybe a bit thinner, I find it very similar to my Beretta 92, if that comparison is any use to you. The Bul M5 has a polymer frame with molded checkering rather than detachable grip panels. The Para is metal with screw on panels. The Bul grip is definitely smaller than the STI 2011. The Bul also has greater radiusing on the corners of the frame, IIRC. It's been a few years since I ditched my Para.

Bul M5
Overall grip width: 35mm
Length of grip at mag well 53mm
Length of grip from trigger guard to depressed beavertail 48mm

Beretta is 35, 55, 45 respectively. The Bul has more taper to the rear of the frame, so it dosesn't feel as fat when gripped by your palm.

My Glock is 30, 52,58 respectively, it's skinnier and longer.
