I brought from EE about three mounths ago a FN 22LR Israeli training rifle without rear sight (800$). First owner instaled William peep sight and remove the original rear sight. Is any chance to bring back close to original condition this trainer? The rifle was sold to me without rear sight.

I would think a good gunsmith could make the missing sight , repairing the damage from the williams would be more challenging but doable .
any pictures ?

Some pictures would definitely help. I'm pretty sure the FN trainers had a unique rear sight but very similar to a standard K98k rear sight. Possibly a standard K98k sight would fit or be modified to fit? It wouldn't be 100% correct of course but might be better than nothing until the proper one could be found.

There are guys that could fill those holes for the Williams peep sight so that they would be almost impossible to see from the outside but it would cost a few bucks for sure. Personally I stay clear of anything with holes drilled in it as it pretty much kills collector value.

I was thinking about the little tin sight on the receiver bridge of the Belgan FN .22 trainers .
some of the Israeli .22 Mausers had a Williams type sight on them .
if its the rear sight on the barrel ,that looks like a standard k98 sight your looking for. the KKW training rife takes the same sight. keep an eye on eBay.

I had forgotten about those little sheet metal sights. Interesting info about the KKW sight. Now that I see diopter's pic, it does look the same.

I think the rear sight for the JW 25 Norinco Mauser replica trainer will fit the FN trainer. The Norinco sight is graduated for the .22 cartridge. I have both rifles just not in front of me at the moment, but I can check in about a week when I get home. The Norinco sight might be available as a replacement part from vendors.

Thanks for posting the pics. The first one is a Kkw sight the same size as a k98 only graduated to 200 .
Next is markings on a IDF .22 heavy bbl with peep sight.
Then another kkw
Last the IDF receiver peep sight .

Contact Gun Parts in the US.
I bought a new rear sight base, a new stock, and other parts from them a few years ago.
The base doesn't have the ring required to hold the top wood in place.
If they don't have the Israeli .22 try the Belgian Mod 24/30.
I think the rear sight is the same as the Belgian Model 24/30 .22.
I don't have my .22s out of storage so I can't compare them.
I have a new set of wood with most of the metal (black finish) for 24/30 .22 that I bought off the EE years ago.

The 22 is square and the 98k mauser is round so they are different!
I have about 50 of the ones built by FN for israel
