Did the Israeli K98k use a new rear sight elevation ramp for their 7.62 mm rifles specific to the caliber? or just used the 8mm ramp?

FN made 'em for the Isrealis. Don't think anybody thought about that stuff then. Anyway, Gunparts lists German marked K98 sights on their FN Isreali pages.

o/p, mine is a Czech Lion crested post - war brno mfg Israeli K98. I suspect that it has the original 8mm sights on it, but jbmauser will check his later and let you know.

Mine has the original with waffenmarks. 1916 Spandu Gew 98, that moved along through the 20's etc.

Reworked 98k's used the standard german rear sight. FN made Israeli rifles used a different FN made rear sight. I have owned both and I prefer the german sight.

Finally found the pic. Here you can see the difference between the FN and 98K rear sights. FN on top, 98k on the bottom.

Sorry for the delayed response.

So my 7.62 Israeli is a Czech lion crested example with a 57 dated Israeli barrel on it. The rear sight bed is not marked at all like I initially "remembered" but it is pretty darn close in profile to one original WW2 German sight bed that I have handy. I did a few quick measurements with a caliper and there isn't more than a couple thousandth's difference between the two at the points I measured.
