Were Israeli 7.62 Mauser conversions ever made with model 95's ? I was under the impression they were made with 98,s but I've been told model 95,s were also used!
Thanks.

Never heard of an Israeli Mauser in model 95. They had millions of 98's to choose from.

Not really. Most European nations would not sell to the Israelis. Czechoslovakia was one of the few. They also sold the Israelis new made Me109s with engines that were actually to powerful for the type. The Israelis took what they could get but I personally have never seen anything other than 98s converted by the Israelis to 7.62x51. I suppose anything is possible though. Never say never in such things.

Israelis had some they converted, some that were left original, some have subtle upgrades like trigger guards and etc

I have 2 and they are not converted the same way 100%

are you sure its Israeli ? the Spanish did one in the 50's but it was for a lower pressure cartridge.

Be careful with that one. The CETME 7.62x51 is hotter than most realize. I bought a bunch of that stuff from SFRC a while back with the same assumption. Pressures were much higher than I expected. When I bought the ammo it came in the form of components. They had pulled the bullets and salvaged the powder from several thousand cartridges. They sold off the brass for scrap but did include appx 100 loaded rounds in original boxes. I pulled the bullets from those cases and weighed about half of them as well as the bullets so that I could load up the components to shoot out of my converted Spanish 95 Mausers. They were HOT in commercial cases. They were even hotter in the Spanish milsurp Berdan primed cases that I reprimed with new Berdan primers. I am willing to bet these rounds were almost as hot as the Canadian issue 76 dated ammo I had. The lighter bullets make the difference. Especially in recoil. Muzzle blast isn't much different than their Canadian counterparts. The Spanish bullets are the same length as the 150 grain boat tail Nato round, they just have a plasic core in the nose on top of the lead base. Very accurate bullets that I would place in match grade class.

I'd like to see pics of an Israeli built on a M95. I've never seen one or heard of one myself but as mentioned the Israeli's did use whatever they could get their hands on to start with. It just seems odd to me that they would convert one to .308 though because by the time they were doing these conversions they could afford to be picky and you would think they would have only selected the M98's for conversion to simplify things and because they are a far better action.

I have seen photos of Ludwig Loewe manufactured M 95 rifles with a six point star marking on the stock immediately below the forward receiver area in conjunction with the rifles serial number stamped into the stock in the same area. I wonder if this may have someone believing this rifle was in Israeli hands?

Mine all it got on the stock is 7.62 stamp/branded on the buttstock. On the receiver is only 2 little Hebrew stamps.
