Anyone know if any ISSC MK22 Commando rifles made it to Canada? Looks like just a short barrel version of the GSG-15. I'm guessing the folding stock would have to be pinned to keep OAL in NR territory.

It's in the FRT as a restricted rifle.

The GSG-15 / MK22's stock cannot be pinned. I contacted the RCMP lab and they said once a folder, always a folder. This seems to differ from something like the GSG-16, which comes with a telescoping stock that can be pinned to keep it legal.

For the GSG-15 / MK22 you would need to replace the folding stock with a fixed stock that maintains 26" OAL.

With that said, the Dlask GSG-16 9" barrel actually fits the GSG-15 / MK22 trunion so you can use it to shorten the rifle into a commando version, however the fixed stock still needs a solution. It's possible that the new GSG-16 SBR barrel also can be swapped into the GSG-15 / MK22 as well, but I haven't see the barrel of one of those exposed yet.

Can confirm that the rcmp does not think pinning a folding stock is acceptable to meet OAL laws. My buddy went through this with his 10/22 in an ark angel stock a few years ago, lab said if it's DESIGNED as a folder it's always a folder regardless of what modifications you make to stop it from folding.

As for pinning a collapsing stock, dlask wasn't allowed to make NR keltec CMR30s by pinning the stock (lab said no dice), they had to make long barrels to get them to the 26" OAL. IRG also did a run of NR cmr30s, and they changed the entire butt plate portion of the stock to limit how much it can collapse to meet OAL requirements.

The FRT for the GSG-16 specifically has this row added - and IRG also alluded to it for the new CMR30 stock: A commercial customization to the stock seems to be OK, but it has to be done by a firearms manufacturer.

I was under the understanding that the dlask 9" gsg16s were all sold with fixed stocks?

Either way, they started life as a NR gun, so no need to get it reclassified like the CMR30s (which are all R guns in their factory configuration), so I feel that the cmr30 is a very good example of what the lab will or won't accept because the gsg16s didn't need lab approval for anything.

No, Dlask only pinned the factory telescopic stock so that the OAL was maintained after the short barrel was produced. Many people went a step further and bought mp5 fixed stocks as well since they fit.

Also note that Muzzle devices are also used for the calculation of OAL in the case of an NR rimfire, so while they don't add to barrel length, the barrel length is of less importance in rimfire anyways..

A good example of this is the GSG-15 SE which was initially shipped with a 25.5" OAL and was recalled to add a larger barrel shroud. (but not new barrel) to bring it back into compliance.

Thanks for clarification on the dlask guns. Seems odd that they'd be told they can't pin stocks to make CMR30s NR, but then think it would be okay for the gsg16 - but as I said before, the lab didn't have input on pinning the gsg stock because the gun was already NR. Sounds a bit sketchy to me...
