ISSC SPA 22LR range report

Around Christmas time Bullseye North had a crazy low price for ISSC SPA 22LR straight pull action rifle (just $190), so I decided to take one, despite reviews ranging from very good to very bad. Added an inexpensive scope ($110), and the mount ($18). So the whole package was very very affordable. Additional magazines weren't (at $50 each, and very hard to find, but that's a different story), but still, even with 2 of them, the price was not bad.

I've tested it with snap caps at home and it was 100% reliable, but only the last weekend I've finally had a chance to zero the scope.
I'm not proud of my results, I believe this rifle can do much better. This is after zeroing, at 50 yards, with CCI SV:

The groups above aren't best groups, they are all groups I've shot after zeroing the scope. I've shot around 100 rounds total, mix of CCI Mini-mags (for initial zeroing only) and then CCI SV. The rifle was reliable, there were no jams.
Trigger is not bad, but could be better. I haven't tried to adjust it yet (not sure I will).
I was shooting from Caldwell Turret rest.

My personal opinion of this rifle is that it handles really well. Straight pull is a pleasure to use, I like it more than a bolt action.
The only problem I've experienced with the rifle so far was that the rifle wasn't free-floated from factory. The stock was slightly warped, so even though the barrel was supposed to be free-floating, it wasn't. Sandpaper and couple hours of my time helped to fix the problem. I thought about putting some epoxy into the stock to make it more rigid, but for now I'm not going to do that, it doesn't seem necessary.

Magazines are polymer, but very rigid and of good quality. Still overpriced at $50. The rifle came with one magazine, I bought two extra.

If the same rifle was available in Canada in 22WMR, I'd be happy to buy one too, but it looks like all stores got rid of everything ISSC was making. I'm not sure they were even imported in 22WMR into Canada.

I recently got a 17hmr version at gun show. I haven't tested it out yet except to mag dump into the ground to check function. i did notice that i really had to give the mag a good whack to get it to seat.

Interesting report tfs
Had my eye on a Hammerli straight pull which would be nice to see side-by-side to compare
The Hammerli combo comes with 22lr and 22wmr barrels at a higher price point of course
that action type makes sense for quick follow up shots like biathlon, prs, etc to hold a good sight picture

I bought one also and really like it, but I have been unsuccessful in picking up a 2nd magazine. If anyone knows where I can buy a magazine for this, PLEASE let me know. I'd like to shoot it at one of my local ranges' ORPS matches but I need 2 magazines as some stages are 12 shots

Thanks

I have had more than one of these rifles and they shot very well. The trigger is adjustable and can be set very light and crisp. They normally sell for way more than $190.

My present one sports a Hawke 4-12 AirMax, a quality bipod, and a tuner I made.

You can make the groups slightly larger and smaller as you dial through the sweet spots for that particular ammo.

Here is a pic when I sighted my grouse gun in for 20 yards...
