Alright Gentlemen, here is your mission, should you choose to accept it.
Please tell me why my slide stop on my Colt Combat Commander does not fully disengage when I pull back on the slide.
What I mean is that normally when I go to charge a gun with a round from the magazine, I pull back on the slide, the slide stop disengages (drops downward fully) and allows the slide to come forward.
My 1911 isn't doing this right now for some reason. I've stripped and cleaned the gun, so it's not (or shouldn't be at least) a cleanliness issue. I've also lubed the hell out of the hole the pin goes through and the pin itself. It's still getting caught up just enough that the top of the slide stop just barely manages to touch the bottom of the slide.
If I pull back and kind of rattle the slide, without touching the stop, it does finally drop after about 2-3 seconds of screwing around with it.
Would it be advisable to file a very small amount of material from the top of the slide stop?
