Issue resolved - Experience of buying sks from store

Why even state that they are selected to ensure no rusted parts? if this is indeed not true at all, Just remove that statement all together and say could be good could be crap up to you roll the dice.

Why the ad is written that way is irrelevant, as we cant look into the mind of the writer lol. the point is it IS written that way, and its inherently obvious what youd be getting yourself into paying 800 for an sks of THAT obvious description. The OP got exactly what he paid for. Due diligence saves alot of money and hassle. You wouldn't buy a used car sight unseen from someone who said it "runs good" but "couldnt guarantee anything".

Ad should read. For sale: SKS stored in wet bunker, may be rust and need work to function

The price is brutal. I couldn't charge a friend that for a working SKS

It’s not even close to being a 250.00 rifle that thing has been abused through neglect just look at the deep rust pits in the pics and the springs are all rusted that’s nothing close to what I would accept as a hand selected rust free fully functional sks I would hate to see the gas system and bore all that for 748.00 note to self avoid this place like the plague

THESE RIFLES ARE REFURBISHED AND ARE IN FAIR CONDITION. SMALL MARKS AND BUMPS MAY BE FOUND ON THE STOCK. WE CANNOT GUARANTEE THE CONDITION OF THESE RIFLES.

That was a very bad buy, an expensive lesson.

$740.00 plus tax for such a POS is a prime example for price gouging!

I guess solely lost more than one customer over this.

Buy in-person and learn how to quicky break down an SKS, then next time you buy one ask if you can do so. If they say no, move on (freakin' Cabela's lets me do this so any other store that won't allow you is being unreasonable). This way you know exactly what you're getting.

Buying surplus from a retailer online is a crapshoot. They don't have the time (they claim) to inspect and supply you with photos of whatever it is. Best you'll get is a general description (which is sometimes of the whole lot and not your particular item). Best bet buying surplus online is through private sales, as you'll more likely to get the info and photos you want.

Hello everyone, it was my first time buying a surplus gun https://www.solelyoutdoors.com/sks-soviet-sks-semi-c762x39.html.

When I got it, the bolt will not hold open (empty magazine ofc). I took it back to the store, the clerk told me I just need to clean it. After cleaning off the cosmoline by soaking it in a mineral spirit and brushing, it still does not hold open.
I took it back to the store again, they tried to troubleshoot but cannot fix it on the spot. They did recommend things such as cleaning again, trying to smooth the bolt catch, or removing some spring tension.
They said it's a final sale and cannot help me with it (no exchange etc) besides providing some recommendations.

Just thought what's everyone's experience with this, is this a normal thing with surplus guns (basically a mystery box and may get some non-functional stuff)?

Hey everyone, Customer was contacted and we are currently inbetween a few solutions for the SKS. Also, please understand. There are plenty of risks pertaining to the sentitivity of firearms and ammunitions why retailers like us implement and follow our no returns / refunds policy. I’ve had nothing but good experiences from solely.. but buying surplus sks’s isn’t always a sure thing! Sorry for your luck. I was skunked on the first couple rifles I bought. Like was stated earlier, expensive lesson but a lesson none the less..

Need the English translation, please.

Is it becoming a pattern, that any bad exp with a store and customer complaints at CGN and when enough backlash, store responds ?

not a good customer service if this method is followed. :(

Fixed it for ya.

On an other site a user posted about being F over by solely with proof, it’s clear the owner of solely outdoors is extremely greedy and only care when caught.

Glad that the OP is "happy".

I cannot see any reason for happiness, given the exorbitant price for a "fair" (poor) condition SKS, and the shady business practices of the retailer.

it's not really luck...

just avoid problem retailers, and more importantly, don't buy a shi#ty SKS and pay 800 bucks for it!

...at the end you can only blame yourself.
