Hello all,

I have been reloading for a few years now (mostly 9mm, but also .45, 223 and 308) but only recently started loading 357 and I'm facing some issues. I'm loading CamPro 148gr HBWC but fom time to time (2 or 3 times per 100) I'm getting some crushed cases when seating (I seat and crimp separately). I have loaded 2k CamPro TC 158gr and never had an issue.
I have tried expanding a bit more, but the issue persists. I'm using RCBS dies with Lee FCD. I currently have the round nose seater plug in, but I see that both seater plugs engage the bullet the same way on the outer rim.
Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks

Check your case and projectile alignment going into the seater die. Hornadys can occasionally mis-time the indent, and are made to use the Hornady seating die which has a descending bullet alignment feature that compensates for slight misalignment going into the die.

The last box of CamPro 148 FCP HBWC I had many that did that and found that they were .362 -> .365 dia near the base.
CamPro is sending me 500 to replace those.

is'nt that nice eh . too big. I had some old Excel stuff and it was all over the paper. then I stopped being lazy and miked it . too small.

Yeah, but I wonder what would happen to the plating?

It's such a small difference in size that it will be fine if lubed before sizing. I have sized berry's 0.358 158gr round nose bullets down to 0.329 and 7 out of 10 are fine. On the other 3, the plating has little cracks in it. I was hoping to shoot them at mouse fart speeds in my steyr m95. the main problem i had was the base wasn't flat in the sizing but i will still try them at some point.

truthfully i dont think you'll have an issue if you size them, it looks like the hollow back is deformed, being hollow your just kind of making it "true". With that said there is only one way to be sure. maybe theres a gunnut close by that can lend you a few minutes with his sizer before you put the money out for one yourself
