Hi all,
I just disassembled & reassembled my 'new to me' Mannlicher Schoenauer model 1950. I got the bolt together alright but can't get the wing safety to 'Safe' position when the bolt is cocked. I guess I am doing something wrong here though the bolt seems to work alright. Please advise.
Thanks
P

First of all, DID THE RIFLE WORK ALL RIGHT AND THE SAFETY WORKED PROPERLY BEFORE YOU DISASSEMBLED IT?

DOES IT HAVE SINGLE OR DOUBLE SET TRIGGERS ON IT? DID YOU MAKE ANY ADJUSTMENTS TO THE TRIGGER MECHANISM?

The 1950 MS bolt is almost identical to the 1903 Greek military version, which can be disassembled as follows:
1. Remove the bolt from the action.
2. Hold the bolt body in one hand and with the other rotate the striker assembly a quarter-turn anti-clockwise after pulling it back slightly.
3. Press the safety in towards the bolt face, while turning the striker assembly anti-clockwise; lift it off.
4. To remove the firing pin grasp the bolt head and rotate it half a turn anti-clockwise; this releases the bolt head, firing pin and main spring.
Reassemble in reverse order.
See Item #5 in the March 1964 Guns and Ammo page 47.

Thanks for your reply buffdog.
1. As I mentioned this rifle is new to me - though it's been lying in my safe for over an year- & I missed to check if the safety was working prior to disassembling. I bought it quite a while ago from a local gun store, I don't feel it right now to go after a year & ask them about it so, I've no way to check if the safety was in working order or not.
2. I followed the each step correctly as mentioned in your post.
3. It's a single trigger & no, I didn't make any adjustments to the trigger assembly.
I could turn the safety wing when the rifle is decocked, it doesn't works when it should i.e. when the bolt is cocked.
