The Marlin 1892 was a lever-action repeater able to fire both CF & RF .32 Colt rounds. You could either switch out the firing pin or rotate the existing one, I'm not sure.

Anyways, the recent posts about easily loadable .32 RF cases with centered primers makes me want to get but does anyone have any experience about what customs would think, or what the CFC's stance on this gun is? One way it's an antique but change the firing pin and it's an unregistered non-restricted.

I'm going to say that if it's shipped rimfire it should be ok. It's classified by its current configuration. The laws aren't capable of dealing with reality so I think they just go as basic as they can and avoid grey areas if possible.

I tryed to get a RCMP letter on that Rifle but they wont give you one.
The fireing pin can just be flipped over or something to shoot 32 cf so thats there reason for not giveing the marlin Antique status even if its set in the 32 Rf position. just to easy to flip the pin .

maby if you had the fireing pin silver sodered in the RF set up then it should be ok

I was just thinking this, but what if customs look up the FRT#?

Take into account I don't know what kind of money is at risk, but customs seems more oriented towards a yes or no answer - if you can show how it's antique they're fine. The CFC is more concerned about interpretting the restrictions as widely as possible to keep as many guns as limited as possible.

Why not bring it into the country as a non restricted & then with the help of a verifier, try to have it placed as an antique? If all else fails & the price is right you'll still probably make a couple of bucks right here if you don't want a non restricted antique...... Just a thought...

Cause that would cost $!!!!!

Importing a firearm is a long process, whereas just shipping an antique, is just shipping an antique!

You gotta get out more....:D:p Talk to Clay at Prophet firearms. he will import here for under $200 CAN. Once purchased, register it with CFC. And provide all paperwork to them so that they can clear it with customs. Antiques can be just as long if the U.S. seller is unwilling to ship directly to you in Canada.....
