Today I took my new to me, Russian made TT33 pistol to the range and I had a couple issues with it.
The slide would often lock back on a still loaded mag after the first round.
I also had several failures to extract were the spent case would be stuck in the chamber and the next round would be jammed into the back of it.
I was shooting surplus ammo.

Anyone have any idea what's going on? Thanks in advance!

Can't help really, but my cousin is having the exact same problem with his.
The small lever that locks the slide back seems to move freely tho, so we're thinking that it might just move up with the recoil and lock the slide back. No clue what can be done to fix this yet, so I'll keep an eye on that thread...

The clip that locks the slide stop release needs to be tightened up or replaced
Take it off and squeeze the two prongs with a pair of pliers. This is what holds the slide stop release from moving and tripping the slide before the mag is empty.

no problems extracting but the slide locked back every shot and the slide stop seemed verry loose. when i went to take it apart to see whats going the clip that holds the slide stop on broke.since there was no tension on it the recoil would always pop it up and activate it. looking at my other tt33 that clip actualy puts a little spring tension on the slide stop to hold it down untill the empty mag follower hits it. based on if my problem is the same as yours, my 2 cents says you probly need a new slide stop clip, or possibly a new slide stop if the notch is worn.

as for the FTE, i cant help you with that.

Now that we're on the topic (sorry to hijack) but has anyone experienced the small pin that goes straight down from the top of the slide raising up on its own as you shoot the gun? It's the pin that holds the extractor bar in place in the receiver.

It takes quite a few rounds to do it but it always happens, I have to manually push it back down into the receiver by hand or tap it in with a magazine.

Do I just need a new pin? Are they available anywhere?

Are you using the S&B Czech surplus ammo? It has a really thick layer of lacquer on it and casings have been regularly sticking in the chamber of both my toks. Clean your chamber really well before shooting and try a pack of brass cased ammo to make sure the problem is ammo related.

Mine is Russian Tokarev, never had any extraction or ejection issues. Had a couple slide lock backs but only because of my grip, thumb was nudging up against release.

Check a couple of things. Extractor claw profile and strength. If it's grabbing good then check the well when in battery. Is there something obstructing extractor, pushing out extractor slightly?

Yep same ammo as me, it's Czech and supposedly a little bit hotter than standard 7.62x25 since it's for submachine gun use (the loader for the smg mags takes those clips). It's got a heavy coat of lacquer so it has a tendency of sticking in the chamber. Nothing you can do about it...
