Hello,
So i got a 14.5 inch NEA and to boot 3 Magpul Gen M2 MOE mags. When the bolt is forward the mags will no seat/stay in place when I put them in. Only if I really smack it will it catch. Has anyone else had this issue? When I use non Magpul mags they work fine FYI.

Second,

When I got rack the Carbine the bolt will not clear the mag, the bullet is pushed off and the bolt stops half way. Only when using the Forward assist will it go forward, but not easily. Again, has anyone dealt with this or has any ideas?

Cheers,

Matt

Check the mags.

Are they hard to load for the last round?

If so it may meand they are pinned incorrectly which might prevent the mag being properly seated with the bcg in battery.

I know its not what you want to hear, but ditch the NEA and save up for a quality AR. Quality control issues and out of spec parts are not new with NEA...

Been there, done that. I owned a Norinco AR, then sold it and bought an NEA 14.5; sold it too after repeated issues and finally bought a Colt LE6920.

Of course there's always the off chance that the rifle is not to blame... though I doubt it, but if you know anyone else with an AR (not NEA), try your PMags in their rifle and see if the problem persists.

Good luck.

I really hate to say this. Truly.

And it's probably one of the very few times where it's been the case.

I apologize in advance.

The problem is probably not the NEA.

There. I said it. I feel icky.

As someone posted above, mags need to be pined to 5.5 rounds so that they'll reliably seat on a closed bolt.

Dear God! I want this moment captured in a time capsule or some s**t..... MALICE JUST SAID THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY NOT THE NEA! ovrec

Thanks for the input guys. I have been trying to load them even empty and they won't catch unless I hammer the #### out of it. Other mags seem to work fine. Gunna test it on buddy's nea and see what happens.

If the mags won't seat even unloaded, it's absolutely the lower.

Only other possibility is the rivet. Check to see if that's binding on the rear side of the magwell interior.

Thank you for that. I laughed so hard my whiskey came out my nose. Haha

The 10.5" nea I just built ( with spikes boron nickel bcg) functions just fine with pmags, asc lar's, us gi's, and elanders. Mags latch on a closed bolt, last round hold open. Ymmv.

Check your mag catch installation. Might be turned in a little too much.
At first I thought it was a magazine problem with tight rivets but now that you've said it has problems with empty mags it's either the lower is built out of spec or the mag catch is installed incorrectly (or is faulty). With NEA you never know what you're getting. I got lucky and the upper/lower I used in a build were in spec but many people are not so lucky.
