Just tried the 2 thermold mags I bought recently from SFRC. Was wondering if I was the only one that had FTF with them. Seems that the third round of both mags doesn't feed well. Never had issues with Norinco or Springfield mags. I used them in a M1A loaded

Cheers

If anyone has issues with them please post. We always like feedback on products we sell.

Thermold mags (AR & M14) have always had issues with feed lips cracking and/or breaking...........I stayed away from them........

I used the factory Norc mags, or blocked USGI mags........

Those are the oringal one's, these are a different plastic. I haven't had or broke any myself of the new ones. The ones that broke were 10-20 year old ones. God I hated those things.

Yea, I used some of them back in the day............good to hear that things changed for the better..... ;)

in the 2011/2012 it's all about the polymer revolution. Plastic's have come along way since 2006 not to mention 2000. Hell now day's our $100 bills are now plastic.

I have two, one feeds fine the other was ok for the first 5 rounds and now will not feed any rounds.

Thanks, good to know. Anybody else that have actually used the new ones?

My M1A really hates the Norc 5 rds, feed fine, just a pain to remove them.
And the 20/5 are hard to find these days

I was thinking on "pulling the trigger" on 4 of these, Wanstalls says they have not had any problems? Are the feeding problems "static" or intermittent?

Are these on the website?

Only ran 10 rounds per mags (have 2) yesterday the range. On the four serial run, had FTF during each run, always on the 3th round, ans one one occassion on the 1st
Had to gently feed the round IOT get it in the chamber. Normal drills (tap, rack and go) were innefective

Because they are thermold, they were gently inserted but I made sure that they were properly locked in

I bought one from Wanstalls and ran about 40 rounds through it. Only issue I recall having was a single FTE that I put down to not give it a smack on the back after thumbing the rounds in. Otherwise seemed to function near as made no difference the same as the Norc ones.

Another range day, more issues

Went shooting again,
Fired 30 rds total in my M1A, used 3 mags, my 2 thermold and my Norc 20/5.
One again, issues with both thermold, always at least one FTF per serial per thermold mags. Also, one would not engage the bolt catch.
0 issues with the norc mag...

I just recently got a M305 this is good to know thanks guys for posting.
Besides looking uglyer then sin, they don't seen to work prefectly, I think i will stick to the Norc Mags i have.

Hmmm...
Sounds like the rivet is causing issues with the spring and follower. Can you post pic's of the make & are they making the noise "CLICK" when they are seated in the magwell?

Pics will be hard, using my IPAD... They are thermold brand
They do click properly, no issues there. Also, the issues is never with the first round or the last round.

Looking back at the brass, agreed that the problem is the spring, the brass that didnt't feed properly has long scratches all along the body from my bolt. Once again, the problem is not the gun since I have no issue with Norc mags

I see that SFRC is selling them, are his pinned in the spine?

Nope, i got mine from wantstalls and they are pinned in the main body of the mag.

Link below shows pic, just below your post.
