Hi All,
The other day I installed a BC Tactical CSA Scout Mount on my VZ58 in the hopes of mounting my Vortex Sparc II red dot to it.
I first installed the "low mount" which comes with the RD, only to find that the clamp on the mount would met it's limit of adjustment before actually grabbing onto the base. That left the whole unit a bit loose and able to moved around - obviously no good.
Just for giggles I tried the "high mount" which again comes as part of the Sparc package only to find that it seems to have the adjustment range needed in order to clamp tightly onto the CSA base. It works, but I find the mount is much higher than I would like it to be.
I was just wondering if anyone out there has had experience with this combo and might be able to help me out with a fix or tell me if I'm missing something blatantly obvious. For example, why would a high and low mount have different adjustment ranges? The manual says that they should both fit a Weaver or Picatinny type rail, but gives no indication that there is any difference in the range of adjustment between the two. Do different rails have different widths? Do I need some kind of adapter for the base itself? Are these bases just made to a different spec?
For the record I have tightened both mounts to they're respective limits of travel and compared them while not mounted to the rifle. Perhaps this is this a question for Vortex?
Has anyone out there maybe had similar issues with the Sparc II mounts and other bases, or other RDs and the BC Tactical CSA base?
What am I missing here?
