Lesson relearned. New brass can be a PITA to size.

A little Dillon spray lube makes for a happy boy.

(Yes, I know some will say why bother sizing new brass, but I like consistancy.)
 
I FL re-size every rifle round that goes through my press. Consistency in the feel of the press is paramount. If it doesn't feel right, I come full stop and start inspecting everything.

I had a new unfired, unprimed Winchester .30-30 case that wouldn't chamber in a Stevens bolt action rifle from the 50's. I figured since they where new and unfired I could just load them as is. One of the fifty cases wouldn't chamber and turned out to be oval shaped in the body instead of round. After full length sizing it fit no problem.

Since then I FL resize every case regardless of if it's new or not.
 
+1 for FL sizing of new brass (rifle and handgun) I've come across the odd oval. I figured a lot can happen during shipping from factory to shelf and since my brass comes in bags its possible to get out of shape.
