My FV-SR came in the mail this morning!
Wholesalesports did a great job on the processing times! 2 days shipped! :woo:
I've taken it apart to clean but have misplaced the lube. lol
I was lost as to how to un-#### the rifle without dry-firing it and then took the bolt out and it all made sense. :redface:

Regarding the Registration Papers, does Wholesalesports took care of it or do I have to register it myself? How long would I have to wait before the papers come in the mail?
I wouldn't be able to transport a long gun without papers,right?

Going to the range today or Monday with a good assortment of ammo so hopefully I'll post some good groupings after sighting in! :D

WSS took your PAL # I'm assuming? Unless I'm too sleep deprived, that process transferred ownership from them, TO you. Next correspondence you should get is from the police, it will be the paperwork you need to transport. As for what happens between now and then~check the paperwork (invoice and/or packing slip) that came with the rifle, I'd be a little surprised if there wasn't a reference or transfer # on there. THAT would be the # you want to have with you between now, and when the letter comes from the police. If you don't see anything, or are not sure, call-up WSS with the invoice # and ask if they can give you the transfer/reference #.

I bought a used .22 about 2 weeks ago (single shot Cooey 75 :) ) doing the transfer over the phone with the seller beside me. The CFC gave me the reference #, and I'm carrying that with me until the paperwork arrives in the mail.

Yes, I have a referance # and a cert #.
So I can take my rifle to the range today using the ref # as a temporary transport?
 
I called up the 2 different RCMP offices and they both said that the cert # is only valid to transfer it from store to home, not to range. I need real papers mailed to me before i can go to the range. :(
Oh well, back to cleaning her up some more.
 
I don't think the RCMP know what they are talking about. The certificate number is the same number that will come from the firearm's center. WSS is a registered vendor. The Certificate paper they gave you would be the same as the temporary one that would come from the firearms center. So you already have the temporary one from WSS and this allows you to take your gun out shooting. The only one that will now come is the permanent one from the firearms center.

^x2. That's the way I understood it.

Oh yeah~don't forget to run a patch or 2 through the barrel first. (if you haven't already) Surprising how dirty they can be on a new gun.

I agree, go do some shooting man! You have the ref# and cert#... Besides, as far as I understand it, you don't legally need to take your reg papers along to transport a long gun anyhow, you only need to carry the reg cert for restricted firearms. But take it in case you get stopped by the PO-PO... Can't hurt, and it proves it is registered to you so less hassle.

If it were me, I'd be going shooting. I know I did when I got my first .22 without papers. It's a "grey area" technicality we hopefully won't have to deal with for very much longer

I think Ontario police are just anti-fun and freedom. When you buy a brand new gun, the dealer initiates the transfer and gives you a copy of the transfer notice that has all the details of the new gun and all. That is your registration paper until you recieve the cert. in the mail. Because its non-restricted you are good to go. Its your gun and you can prove it, po-po can go fly a kite. Enjoy your new toy, they are great guns for the price!
 
This guy cracks me up... The excitement is almost palatable. Makes me wish I could go back and buy my first gun all over again. I keep trying to get that first gun thrill by buying more and more guns... I still get excited, But it's not quite the same as the first.

Same goes for ###... And liquor.

Damn, this post will keep me smiling all weekend.

Now, go shoot that rifle, and savor every shot. My last 2 new rifle purchases were Savages. That reminds me, I've bought 3 rifles in the last 5 months...and a 4th is planned. :) If that happens, 3/4 will be Savages.
 
I have found mine accurate with SK Standard Plus ammo at 50 yards, 1/2" groups are normal. The only downside to the rifle is the plastic stock, way too much flex and twisting. I ended up making a pad to place between the barrel and the fore end of the stock to get any kind of accuracy. It now resides in a Boyds Tacticool stock, just waiting for the new bottom metal to arrive then bed the action and top it off with a Weaver T-36 scope and then test for accuracy.
