(Blackpowder and Antiques) For the lovers of the old ways Well I'am giong to open a can of Worms,there is a place for everything.Inline muzzloaders do not belong in this subject,they should have there on Monderator.A inline muzzeloader is no antique they are new space age rifles,for hunting.You don't bring a inline to a Flint or Percussion match.Someone out there is going to come back and say there were some way back when,big deal.It is time to give the inline its own Place.
I look forward to the replays.Bellydancer way out west.
 
I agree that an inline is a totally modern piece of equipment, but the forum is titled Blackpowder and Antiques. Yes, I know most people shooting inlines don't use true blackpowder either. That just my opinion though.
 
Yup, most definitely a modern firearm but they do load from the muzzle and use bp or some substitute. Not really sure you opened a can of worms.....right now there is no other forum for them. If they were given their own it wouldn't bother me and if they stay here....no biggie to me. Pretty simple just not to open the threads about in-lines just as I rarely look at the ones about matchlock and flintlocks.

Ido't think you've opened a can of worms. Blackpowder front stuffers are all part of this forum, whether they're flints, percussion style Hawkens or inlines. This is the best forum to gain knowledge about this style of hunting or shooting. Now Savage muzzleloaders....:evil::evil::evil::runaway:
 
Don't forget to include black powder cartridge guns, like the old single shots and replicas. Cast bullets and black powder only or your outta here.
 
I've never owned an inline, and they really don't turn my crank, but hey -all are welcome here. Whatever makes shooting fun for ya...
I shot traditional muzzleloaders for years and now I'm hooked on black powder cartridge rifles. It's all about the hands on loading, front stuffers or BPCR.
I was shooting a flintlock at the range a few moths ago when a fellow asked me if I minded if he brought out his TC inline, knowing that some ML guys are touchy about them. We all took some turns with each others guns. First time I ever shot a ML with a scope, sabots, or Tripple 7, some kinda new fangled BP sub, lol.
 
I kinda like this forum just the way it is. I am frontstufferless for want of other interests but I cerainly enjoy learning about what other people are doing wether they ignite with shotgun primers, flints, caps, pins, anvil primers, primed 25acp brass or string.
There was a time when I would'nt take a second look at a flinter, Now I am just waiting for the lotto and a LH gun. Who knows someday I might need an inline and if I get one I know there are folks here who will steer me right.

I applaud your attitudes Steppenwolf and Smokepole. We are a hunting and shooting fraternity and splintering helps no one. I used to run into the same sort of stuff in my archery club; the longbow shooters didn't like compounds,the compounds didn't like crossbows etc. We're all doing the same thing just in different styles. How is anyone supposed to get an interest in something when they're excluded from the conversation. It's nothing to put a thread up, if you don't want to participate or read on a subject that doesn't interest you,then don't. Although I don't own a black powder cartridge gun or flintlock, I can stiil enjoy reading about them and learning. Let's divide and conquer the anti-gun community not the shooting community. Well I thought there would more off a responce to inlines having there own spot on the board.So to the next time down the road as a real blackpowder shooter,I only hope to see a seperate inline site for them and leave this open to anything that is before 1890 that is blackpowder.

It won't happen, segregating in-lines & trad guns. Just look at the numbers of regular bp enthusists(sp). If it does happen though I'll comment on both cause that's what I have. It don't bother me none.
 
I don't care what a person shoots , but I can't help but wonder if the modern inlines were designed to do an end run around ( what I believe was the spirit) of the hunting regs that in some ares allowed an early/extended muzzleloader season.:nest:
 
Bellydancer, as you can see you didn't open a can of worms. This forum is unique compared to other forums, in that we all share our experiences and get along.
You illicited some great responses. I hope we'll see more posts from you.

I've shot all variations of muzzleloaders and really don't see a whole big difference between an inline and a T/C Scout or a Hawken. Scope any one of these rifles and practice and they are all good killing tools. Perhaps what should be put forth for the purist is not a muzzleloading season, but a seperate primitive weapons season, like they offer in many of the States. That way you could still give everyone hunting opportunities. With the amount of deer out there today though, I don't think provincial wildlife agencies care how they're shot just as long as they are.
