It lives!!!The Frankengun that is.

Might something to think about considering all the Norc M14s floating around with s**tty Chi wood and owners looking for nice "tactical" stocks.
In my opinion, it is certainly alot nicer and more "stream lined" than the stock that Marstar is selling, and we all know how hard it is to get a Sage.

Other reasons too.A norico m14 has to have mags that hold how many rounds?Right.Pinned to five. This one is built with 10 rounders that are made specifically for a bolt action.Actually those new enfield knockoffs. Therefore now he has a precision rifle with 10 round mags.
Not only that but he seems to like a challenge.Someone came into the shop and said "that will never work".Well guess what? :)

Thanks for the explanation, Longshot. (not so much to MikeK)
I didn't realized the mag was from an Enfield .308.
Aren't you guys exempt from all that crap, anyway, due to your movie connections?

Once again, nice work!

Yes we are exempt when it comes to movie guns, but this one is a shooter and GV's personal rifle. It's going to the BC Sniper match.

Best of luck.

That does raise an interesting thought. If you could modify a Garand to take a Enfield .308 mag, presumably you could also modify a Norc to take the same mag?
I see the debate about the 10 round AR15 Pistol mag is not yet settled. Some say that the mag is made for a pistol, it doesnt matter what it ends up in, other opinions say that semi CF rifles must not have more than 5. Period.

I imagine GV could mod a m14 to take that mag.Might take a bit more work but i think he could probably do it.
It will be interesting to see how this mag loophole grows and IF the CFC tries to do something to change it.

beyond the stock, what has been done to this rifle since last year?
still way cool though. I want one.

Grens had this rifle out at the 2006 BCRA Sniper match and it drew quite a bit of attention and turned a lot of heads.:D
With Grens knowing that I am a M14 fanatic, he had to drag me over to see this creation.:p

IIRC, this was the first time it was really shot and performed well during the match.

As stated earlier it runs an M-60 gas system and detachable mags made to fit this action.

Dare to be different!!!!:D

Grens is truely an artist with machining tools!!!!!!!!!:dancingbanana::rockOn::dancingbanana::rockOn::dancingbanana::rockOn::dancingbanana:

Hi now that I have some time I will explain the build of the frankengun,As I said I started with a bubba'ed garand my first idea was to make a short ebr type rifle, but what is the point since m305 are around so I though why not a long range rifle with a true heavy barrel not staped down for the gas system. This meant that I would have to build a custom gas system, which is what you see it was based off a scaled down m60 system(the m60 system was way to big and very hard to find)this also meant that the op-rod would have to be modified. The op-rod is all garand upto the part where it curves under the barrel all new from there on(tig welded with 316 s/s filler). I also wanted the scope to be centered over the barrel so this meant it would have to be converted to mags, since I was putting a new match grade barrel on .308 was a obvious choice. I was going to use m-14 mags but when the enfield mag became avalible better to go with those(It will still take m-14 mags but then they would have to be pinned). So a spacer was made and pinned and welded in the lower front reciever( since 30-06 is longer) the top of this spacer also formed the new feed ramp, I also made the bottom of the spacer into a reciol lug tapped for a reciever screw. The trigger gaurd from a garand was then installed on a m-14 trigger group, so now I had my mag catch. Then the inside of the mag well was filed smooth (all the ridges and grooves for the garands clip had to come out) this took a long time and lots of patience because I was filing hardend 8620,(you need sharp new files for this).I then fitted and welded a second recoil lug onto the back of the reciever and tapped it for a second reciever screw, now my reciever is held into the stock just like a bolt gun no more relying on just the trigger houseing. A word of warning welding to hardened 8620 is not easy use care and get someone who knows how to weld if you are thinking of this. The first scope mount I made was similar to a arms18 off the left side of the reciever (this didn't work to well to much flex) the new one is soldered to where the rear sights used to be. Now time for the stock the first stock was foam and carbon/kevlar it turned out ok but not what I had hoped for so now I made the billet aluminum one which I think looks a lot better. The paint job is dura-coat using bulldogarms flecktar stencils .Dosing the muzzle brake was made by myself from o-1 drill rod, I made it up as I went along.I hope this answers most of your questions if not ask away

Sorry for the long post

Thanks for the reply, Its a sweet looking brake, and if you haven't copyrighted it, I may just try making one like it :D

The Merlin looks right at home on there. Nice paint too.

Where did you say you got the stencils from? I have some armacoat here I want to use but can't be bothered to make my own stencils.

There's a thread going on in the Battle Rifles forum where someone is thinking about sticking the Enfield mag in a 305, but modifying the mag instead of the Norc to make it fit.
