It only takes One!!!

mechanical spitfires but have a box of wasps fixed blades as well

Hey BC, I have used the Wasps with good luck on boar and deer. Personally, I would stay away from the mechanicals. One more thing to fail, IMHO. Thunderheads are also good.

bone-collector,
I was using 100 grain Thunderheads, I will never use mechanicals on anything, to many things to fail( like 1899 said), and with moose, you need every bit of penetration

Huntsman,
yes, it was a Mathews, on a side note, with the photos of me apraoching teh animal, I had a release, but didn't put it on, I got lazy, so just so you know, I don't shoot a short axled bow with fingers, lol

well  , my mechanical didnt fail but the rock I bounced it off of sure bent the hell out of the blades , oh and the moose runned away laffing at my dumb ass for misjudging distance  , and I couldnt get in range of his partner tonight, tommorow is a new day and YES I have changed over to the wasp 125Gr broadheads (thanks guys) this is the first time I have ever atempted bow hunting so I didnt expect to be great at it......... tikka T3 300 win mag woulda dropped both bulls in there tracks though  (and my blood presure would have stayed low  )

but we did see 9 moose (2 bulls) 13 mule deer and 2 bears in about a hour and half tonight and its only day 1

Well at least you got some action Rob! Just wait til you hear the satisfying "thunp" of the bolt hitting bulwinkle in the chest. Good luck tomorrow.

My friend in PG shot a Grizzly a few years ago and wanted a live mount. I told him I was headed towards an archery only zone and knew where a little spike buck lived that would look perfect with his live mount. So off I go, and on the last day of my three day hunt I get the little fellow lined up. In the excitement of my prowess I used the wrong sight pin (I have one for 20 yards and one for 40) and watched my bolt fly harmlessly over his back. Now there was a dumbass move! And he was so close, about 15 yards, that I thought it was a sure thing.
