I was going to purchase a revolver from collectors firearms in the US a 10 shot revolver in 8mm lebel revolver they have it listed as being made in the 1870's I sent pics and the rest of the info to the CFC It was made in 1905-1914 so would not have been antique they had to research it and a new frt # was issued for it as it wasn't on the FRT yet . If I hadn't it could have caused me some trouble at the border. It could have been seized and I would not have been abel to prove it was antique.
 
If it wasn't already on the FRT, and was listed as being from the 1870's, how did CFC manage to determine it was built 1905-14?
 
Theres a pile of them French and Belgian type guns that are advertised as Antique on Auctions gun sites Ect BUT if they dont have that ELG in and Oval without the crown there Hard to Prove there Pre 1898.
They well might be but very hard to prove.

Also i have seen Belgian guns at gun shows in Canada being sold as Antique but with a Proof mark on them that only started to be used in 1898.LOL So do your own research!!!

What looks like a little lion with his tail in the Air is a Belgian proofmark was frist used in 1898.

you cant just go by what the US sellers say.
Good plan to Check with CFC Tecs if your not sure.

I have a 1911 arms of the world Catalog with that French 10 shot Revolver listed in there, Im pretty sure its the Same gun.

They sent me pics and the write up out of the book the found it in they have a huge collection of books and info on firearms
 
That piqued my interest as well, but the only Manufrance firearms I could find in the FRT were shotguns and rifles, which basically referred to it as the commercial branch of St Etienne. There wasn't a date on the revolver, so I figured there was no way they'd let it in as an antique.
Still a neat looking old revolver though :D
