Looks like the gopher season is done for this year. Best pasture, four hrs, 28 gophers and one weasel. Land owner has chickens, doesn't fancy the little bugger around his place.

Done for another year~disappointing...but I didn't get to shoot any this year either. Saw a few back at the end of July while in AB/BC with the Mrs, they were taunting me while I was taking my wading boots off. lol Anyhow, I'll be back next year..only in the spring this time.

PS~wondered why the weasel~makes sense now. I know here in Ontario, if it's wildlife impacting a farmer's livelihood...the rules favour the farmer's choice on what to do about. Off of farms though, what do the regs out there say about weasels? We saw a few of them in Alberta last spring while shooting gophers. Left them alone, as they weren't an issue with the landowners.

I don't shoot the weasels I see while shooting gophers, they are gopher and mouse killing machines. Was a different story when I was growing up on the farm and we had laying hens though. They are ferocious little bastiges when confronted

We killed about 2 dozen last Saturday in southern Alberta. The numbers were way down from a few weeks ago. I'm hoping we still find a few this weekend but I'm not holding my breath.

Hoping to get an earlier start next spring. Parts of southern Alberta are literally in the middle of a gopher epidemic. Combined with the drought conditions, they are having a devastating effect on crops and pastures.
