It seems Type 81 is coming

There are a few articles that say ak mags will work, but won't activate any bolt gold open feature.

if the bolt doesn't hold open then you would just operate it like you would an AK...it probably balances decent near the grip, so that shouldn't be a problem...unless it has a kick-ass bolt catch/release...if you have to reach up or across to pull the bolt back manually to release the action, then you may as well just cycle it, unless the mags can't be loaded on a closed and locked bolt, then the AK mags would be somewhat of a nuisance...

Type 81 can also be a Chinese export 5.56 nato AK47, just like the Type 56 can be ether a AK or SKS. The Chinese really making things confusing.
