Now that the Duck Killing video has taken legs and is being reported on main stream media unfortunately the poachers are being referred to as "hunters" and the killing is being referred to as "hunting". Those low lifes did us all a serious disservice.

Yes they did. And a whole community of law-abiding people, young and old alike, shouldn't have to be stereotyped because of the actions of a few twits with a gun and a camera.

Well, personally, I'm not a hunter nor a poacher.. Only thing I've shot at is paper.. But hell, it doesn't take a genius to see that ducklings aren't being shot for food, or someone's gonna be hungry.. However, you know, I'd like to hope that even the dumbest idiot can see that there is hunting, poaching & sheer, utter stupidity. If not, well, the gene pool is far weaker than I'd hoped..

Thankfully most of the coverage that I saw stated how angry legitimate hunters were at these clowns, and the media even defended hunting to a certain extent stating what the difference was between the A$$Clown Poachers and legitimate hunting. Then again, I don't live in Toronto.

CTV National News featured the story this evening. Of all things...The Humane Society gets honourable mentioned but no mention of the effort made by the hunting community in identifying the suspects.

They should be referred to as idiots. It is one thing doing something stupid (breaking fish/wildlife and firearms laws) and unethical (killing game for no good reason) but totally idiotic to broadcast it to the world on the internet.

Can we assume the car and firearms were seized as well? If so, it turned out to be an expensive day for those guys......but then again, I wonder how many times these guys have poached, etc. and not been caught.

To my way of thinking, these guys weren't even poachers..... Poachers are people who hunt out of season and take the game to eat (or sell?). My opinion.

These 3 yo-yos were just out for a day of shooting things, and ducks / birds happened to catch their eye. That's not poaching, it's just a brain-dead joy ride. They even give poachers a bad name.

Grebes are a migratory bird not game listed in any province, so are hawks. nor are baby ducks game either.

so no they weren't poaching, they were killing.
