The Italians used one of 2 methods; either installing a new 7.62 barrel or taking an existing .30-06 barrel and cutting back and re-chambering the breech end for 7.62x51. They didn't use chamber inserts: the US Navy tried that and found them unreliable.
For those that used a new 7.62 barrel, were those used in standard length stocks instead of the shortened stocks for the re-chambered barrels?
All of the Tipo 2 conversions feature a barrel shortened by .5 inch. Stocks, rear handguards op rods and and op rod springs were shortened accordingly. Stocks were newly made.

That was 2016 and the older Marstar got its arxe handed to it for bad practises. CGN kicked them off the site, and cancelled their privileges. The former owner sold to a new ownership group. The new guys have a much more business-like and retail attitude towards their customers.
Just picked up an M1D Tipo2,Converted Springfield,Original M1D Barrel shortened.Doesnt have the scope or bracket though.Did they replace the sight drums to accommodate the 7.62 Nato?Did they replace the Drums on the M84?Same reason.
Then you need the 1/2 in. short stock and operating rod as well.
