I have no need for one.....at all. But I got to play with a bayonet and mount it to one of my uppers the other week, and now I want one.

I have a standard A2 bayonet lug mount.

Im looking for something, not cheap, but not breaking the bank.

Where do I go for one of these?

Educate me on what to look for.

Thanks, C.

ive seen KABARs in higher end knife shops although id say thier around the $200 range. this was a while ago but im sure they could point you in the right derection if they dont carry them. the exchange forum would may also have something.

Check out the Zero Tolerance/Strider bayonet, its a big hunk of S30V steel and not that expensive really.

Yeah, $300 for a bayonet isn't too bad.

The Ontario OKC-3S is the current bayonet of the USMC and is around $100 at most shops in the US.

M9 is also around $100 if buying a new Ontario version, actual issued ones seem to go for considerably more. Seems to be a lot of knock offs or copies though. They've been made for the government by Buck, Phrobis, Lan-Cay and Ontario.

M7 can be found for cheap on EBay, the most economical route.

They go for less than $250 on Ebay, Very cheap for big hunk of quality S30v.

? Why does a bayonet need to be of S30V steel? You'd have to stand really close to the mirror to see the markings.

ATR, if you must, get yourself a 50$ M7. They're everywhere.

Crazy :)

Its not about the markings. It makes one hell of a fixed blade general purpose camp knife.

IIRC I may have seen some bayonets at Crown Surplus in Calgary.

chinese knockoffs of m7 or m9s- seriously, the m9 series can and does break off at the hilt under certain conditions- also, MEASURE your barrel from where your lug is to see of the bayonet will be of any use at all- some of the colts have a bayonet lug, but it's so far back that the barrel overhangs the barrel completely-crown has so much chinese knockoff stuff ( and some korean, to be fair) i should be very surprised indeed to find any n/a there unless it's ww2

I would definitely go with the OKC-3S - this is one tough knife (I wacked like a hundred young coconuts with one swing with it, cleared some branches too)...
S30V is an excellent steel but I believe it is more suitable for a smaller knife and not tough enough for a bayonet...

Go for the USGI M7 (the old issue with the C7 before the Eickhorn 2000). You should be able find one in the EE or eBay for anywhere between $30-100, depending on age and make.

The US M9 is pretty cool too. Like the Bayonet System 2000, it's design more as combat knife as well.
