I made a previous post asking for thoughts on a ithaca 600 for sale at 400$ but it was quite far from home and bla bla bla
Anyway feedback were good and I went with this one.
I paid 650$ and from the serial number It was made in 1954, the blueing is made with chrome much more durable that corrosion/oxidation blueing (correct me if terms are not right but you get the idea).
Independent ejector, barrel selector under the gold trigger, the second barrel is armed with inertia i.e. If you press the trigger without shells in it the second won't fire, the recoil of the first shell will #### the second hammer sort of speak.
It has nice engraving the gun is really tight and still has some blueing where the barrel and receiver touches so I assume it was not used much.
There are some dent and scratch on the wood that is still nice looking overall condition I would say 70-80%.
Lower barrel is imp and top is mod 2 3/4" shells only and it is quite light.
I feel like this will be a good gun for clays as I am getting much more passionate about this instead of using my semi auto which involve cleaning it more often than a double barrel.

I liked my skb-Ithaca 500 so much, I have two. they don,t make them like that any more. hand fit, metal and wood, no plastic. if you can find hammer springs, get them, very rare. eventually you will need one. yours looks well maintained and not worn out. a pleasure to shoot. enjoy. you will look for a second one.

Score !
You got one of the nicest engraving patterns the 600's have had.

Thanks!
I agree these are the best looking one. I almost bought one that was black with engraving but this one still look the best.
Thanks to all other members who gave me feedback prior to the purchase.
Should you have something to teach me about this gun feel free to comment!
Cheers

I think I forgot to mention one nice feature at least for me. The safety is not automatic, i missed so many shots with the citori of my friend after reloading I guess it's just a thing to get used to but anyway for me best safety is the trigger finger.

I've got a 20gauge 500 hanging on my wall. Needs some work it's a little rough but was a great shooter. Handles nicely.

Mine is bad. When you switch the selector the opposite barrel fires as soon as you close the action. It swaps barrels if you change the selector has to be something with the Sears not too sure.

Just a quick update
I polished the receiver with a tooth brush and finished with cotton cloth.
Next thing coming up will be the wood, there are many scratches and dent that I personally dislike also I'd prefer a satin finish than the lustrated finish, it looks very good but it almost looks like plastic since it's so shinny.
Anyway enjoy!

Looks great you really made the metal shine. You say you want to refinish the wood, just be careful as skb used ink on some of the wood stocks to enhance the grain in the wood. Its a old gun makers trick to make plane wood look more expensive. If you refinish you might loose those nice lines in the stock. Something to check into.

I was not aware of that thanks,
My gunsmith will do that he knows everything about these guns and I am confident he'll do a great job.
Also I might put a recoil pad on it. I'm not recoil shy but I must admit it kicks and I felt it for 2 days after with only 100 rounds I never had any problem with any of my pump/semi/sxs that some are lighter. So anyway just a 1/2" pad will do the job just fine now it's solid plastic with only a tshirt at the end of the day I was the first surprised to feel my shoulder in pain
