Ithaca LSA 65 story...

Probably a long shot, but perhaps you could find a used stock, and cut it down to fit your wife. As to scope I would vote for a fixed 4x in a nice used Diavari or equivalent.

I've seen a couple LSA/Tikka 65 stocks over the last few years, but they are definitely a "get lucky" thing to find. I've been curious about the McMillan stocks as well --- would love to see one on an actual rifle.

Congrats, OP, on a very fine looking rifle. I've mentioned this before, but I have a early 80's vintage Tikka M65 Deluxe 30-06 with the rounded rosewood nosecap. I was fortunate and received the Tikka factory QD rings along with the rifle. Have you started looking around for rings and what have you found for options? If you go with Tikka rings, be aware that they suffer the same problem as older Sako rings re: very soft ring cap screw heads. The screws are an odd size, m3.5 (0.6 pitch), but there is a fellow on Ebay who sells replacement Sako Optilock screws with hardened allen heads, and these will work with the Tikka rings, too.

stickhunter - I have looked for bases - Weaver 61's fit front and rear, and Warne also makes steel bases that fit. The front bases for the Savage 10, 12, 16, 110, 112 and 116 will also fit front and rear, so I am looking into those. They also work with other "Tikka with flat receiver" rifles - I don't know if that includes the T3, because if it did then Talley's would be right at the top of the list.

Remember to shorten the front base screw, otherwise it will bind against the locking lug. Every LSA rifle I've seen has this problem.

Thanks for listing those scope base options. It's nice to have the dovetails and tapped holes available for mounting. I just received my new screws so will post a picture of my setup when the scope (a 6x Weaver) is mounted.

Cool story. Nice the fella wanted it to go to a good home where it would be appreciated.

Have received some long guns that way myself in the past. From my great-uncle, a WWII vet, just before the LGR came into effect, passed me his Rem 700 .30-06 and Rem 870 12 ga. He passed away in 2000 knowing his hunting guns were in good hands. And another uncle gave me a 1892 vintage Win '86 SRC in .45-70 and a 1910 vintage Win '94 RB rifle in .30-30 for the same reasons regarding the [now demised] LGR.

Well I have a bit of an update. One of the really good guys on CGN - gunrunner100 - put something in the mail for me: a set of original Tikka rings! What a nice guy, just sends me these rings and would not even let me pay for shipping. Unfortunately they ended up not fitting the older Tikka action as the older action doesn't have the slot in the rear of the action as the newer actions do.

Never-the-less, I just wanted to give gunrunner100 props for a really nice gesture - it is much appreciated!
