Ithaca mod 72 22wmr PAINTED RECEIVER???

I picked one of these up recently, and was surprised to see a painted receiver, not blue because I had a 22lr in the same model and it was blued. Can anyone shed some light on the history of these lever action rifles and give any photos of what the receiver should look like? I'm currently on the road d and cant post pictures from my phone. Thanks for the help everyone.

I had an early Erma/Ithaca 72 with the blued receiver cover. Are you referring to the Ithaca 49 perhaps? Both the 49R and 49 I had were a painted alloy receiver, of which could not hold blue.
